Makuzu Kozan (1842-1916) Satsuma-style Bowl, Japan, oval, with four high relief phoenix heads forming the rim of the bowl with their wings and feathers surrounding the exterior, each with a dragon chasing clouds on its breast, the interior center of the bowl with two dragons surrounded with a band of alternating large and small triangular shapes on a ground of stylized pearls and clouds, decorated in deep blue, green, red, and gold enamels, incised mark in a square cartouche with green and gold borders to the base reads "Makuzu Kozan," with wood stand, ht. 12, wd. 15 1/4, dia. 10 3/4 in.
