"Tree of Life" Whitework Trapunto Quilt, America, c. 1820, white homespun cotton quilt face and backing joined together, with quilting stitched in an intricate design centered with a large tree surrounded by flowering branches, grapevines, and scallop and chain borders, the motifs stuffed with cotton batting from the loosely woven fabric backing, (imperfections), 92 x 78 in.
