Needlework Sampler, probably England, 1788, stitched with silk threads on a linen ground, the top three panels stitched with figures of Liberty, and a man carrying a lantern, several animals including a lobster, cat, dog, parrots, peacocks, stags, and rabbits, and crowns, flowers, and several initials, the center panel with a wreath stitched with the year "1788," over five rows of alphabets and numerals, and several rows of decorative borders, (very minor toning and fading), 19 x 12 1/4 in. , unframed.
