Two Dorchester, Massachusetts, Needlework Samplers, probably worked by sisters, one is stitched "Eliza Jane Foster Dorchester aged 11," c. 1809, worked in silk threads on a linen ground with a pious verse surrounding rows of alphabets and industry verses, (fading, stains, fraying), 16 1/2 x 21 1/2; the other stitched "Almira Foster's work wrought in the tenth Year of her age," ornamented with rows of alphabets, a pious verse, and enclosed in a geometric flower, tree, and chain border, 21 x 17 1/2 in., both mounted in later veneered wood frames.
