Signed with three-line acid stamp: [Venini Murano Italia]. Height 14.5 inches, width 5.5 inches. Literature: Venini Glass: Catalogue 1921-2007, Deboni, fig. 190. Note: This signature example of modern design was originally featured in 1951 at the 9th Triennale in Milan. Production of the model was extremely limited and examples were created in only two color schemes -- blue and white against a clear ground, or aubergine/black and white against a clear ground. The artist and designer, Fulvio Bianconi was a college trained illustrator and caricaturist. After World War II, he came to Murano to study glass techniques and met Paolo Venini. Venini spotted Bianconi's incredible natural artistic talent and hired him in 1947. Bianconi later went on to become the most successful designer of the Golden Age of Italian glass: post WW2 to 1969. Bianconi brought a sensuality and colorful excitement to glass. This lot exemplifies his streamlined designs that were predominately derived and inspired from the female form._x000D_
