Shepard, Ernest (1879-1976) Autograph Letter Signed, 19 January 1970. Single leaf inscribed on both sides. To Mr. Haack, declining to illustrate The Lord of the Rings , having never read it, and being ninety years old, but recommending Norman Mansbridge (1911-1993) for the job. On Shepard's Woodmancote stationery, horizontal fold, slight rust line from an old paper clip in top corner, 7 x 5 1/4 in.
