Colorless Blown Glass Pitcher, 19th century, baluster-form with ear-shaped handle with scrolled terminal, polished pontil, ht. 7 1/2 in. Literature: The Magazine Antiques , May 1979. In the May 1979 issue of The Magazine Antiques it is reported that this pitcher had been acquired from a Shaker community. The Shakers did not manufacture glass, but instead purchased what they needed for household and industrial use from worldly glassmakers.
