Shaker Covered Oval Box, Mount Lebanon, New York, c. 1840, pine top and bottom with bent maple sides joined with three fingers fastened with copper tacks, light brown stained surface, the box containing small wooden pegs, the underside of the lid with penciled inscriptions: "The latter part of 1854 I came to the wash house being then 23 [illegible] was in the year 1855," the name "Louisa," and "$1.10," possibly indicating its selling price from the Shakers, (losses), ht. 1 3/4, wd. 2 7/8, lg. 4 5/8 in.
