Hanging Scroll, China, 20th century, in the manner of Huang Junbi (1898-1991), ink and color on paper, depicting a scholar in a mountain landscape, inscribed and with three seals, overall 83 x 26 1/2, painting 35 x 22 1/2 in. Provenance: A note on the back of the scroll states that this painting was a gift from Gao Zhiqing, the mayor of Kunming in the early 20th century to Pei Jinju who was the current owner's great grandfather. The current owner's mother emigrated to the United States from Kunming, China, in the 1940s, and brought this painting with her.
