Thomas Worsfold Gilt Pair-cased Watch with Zacheus Gates Paper, Hampton Wick, No. 514, c. 1775-90, the hinged outer case opens to the porcelain Arabic numeral dial with brass hands and bull's-eye crystal, dust cover signed by maker as movement, full plate gilt verge- escapement movement engraved Thos. Worsfold, Hampton Wick, No. 514 with chain fusee, fully chased balance cock and diamond endstone, five-arm flat steel balance and silvered regulation dial, together with a printed watch paper signed Zac. Gates Clock & Watchmaker*Charlestown , 55 mm. Note: Zacheus Gates, a likely apprentice of Aaron Willard in Boston, made tall shelf and wall timepieces with known examples in the J.
