Seventeen Magic Lantern Animated Slides and Chromotropes, c. 1880, including two labeled Moveable Astronomical Sliders , No. 3 and No. 7, five geometric patterns, three fish bowls, two fountains, a trapeze artist, gondola, windmill, witch, and a ship sailing around the world, wd. 2 to 4 1/2 in. Note: Chromotropes were used to add motion to lantern slide presentations and were some of the earliest moving images on screen.
