Ansel Adams (American, 1902-1984) Winter Morning, Yosemite Valley, California , c. 1940, printed 1969. Unsigned. Photo mechanical reproduction on tin, sight size 6 7/8 x 17 5/8 in. (17.5 x 44.8 cm), framed. Condition: Scattered surface scratches, not examined out of frame. Provenance: Heritage Auctions, Sale 5015, Lot 75166, December 12, 2008; to a private New York collector. N.B. Adams's photograph was used to illustrate the 1969 Hills Brothers coffee can, which was made in Emeryville, California, by the American Can Company. This work represents the original reproduction on metal before it was formed into a can.
