Mahogany Inlaid Card Table, probably New Hampshire, c. 1805-10, the rectangular top with ovolo corners on a conforming case centering an inlaid oval within a mitered surround, joining legs topped with urn-inlaid dies, refinished, (imperfections), ht. 29 1/2, wd. 34, dp. 16 1/2 in. Provenance: Descended in the family from the Honorable Samuel Dinsmoor (1766-1835), Governor of New Hampshire from 1831-84. According to a notice provided by the consignor, Dinsmoor was born in Windham, New Hampshire, and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1789. He served in the Keene Light Infantry as Quartermaster in 1809, and as a member of the U.S. Congress from 1811-12. Note: An inscription on inside of the table's rear rail reads: "Bot in 1836 in Keene NH in the Old Gov. Dinsmoor Auction."
