Literature: This coverlet is pictured in Coverlets and the Spirit of America , Melinda Zongor ( Pennsylvania: Schiffer Publishing, Ltd., 2002), pp. 212-213. Zongor writes: "The classic urns and floral arrangements, together with cornucopias, surround the central motif at the borders and suggest a theme of 'peace and plenty.' This coverlet was made four years after the end of the Civil War (1861-1865). The choice of slogans suggests that it is celebrating the survival of the American Union."
