Cherry and Maple Slant-lid Desk on Frame, possibly New Hampshire, 18th century, the lid opens to a stepped interior of valanced compartments and drawers, and a case of thumbmolded long drawers, on a dovetail-constructed bracket frame centering a demilune pendant, brasses appear to be original, old refinish, (minor imperfections), ht. 44 1/2, wd. 38, dp. 19 in. Note: Early chalk inscription on the back of the third drawer down reads "Bartholomew." Provenance: According to a pen inscription on this inside of the bottom board, "this desk belongs to the Oliver Rice heirs."
