"Modle Jury Rudder" in a Brass and Glass Case, 19th century, the 17-in. rudder made of wood panels woven with jute and string with a leather wrapped handle and a lead edge, the brass case engraved Modle Jury Rudder, Originated, Constructed, and Successfully used by Capt. J. G. Lawton of Massachusetts in conducting the ship Warren into the Port of New York after a Passage of 109 days from Glasgow, in the winter of 1850 & 51, and by him Presented to P.T. Heartt Esq. U.S. Consul Glasgow 25th Dec. 1856 .
