George III Amboyna-veneer Tea Caddy, England, c. 1780, octagonal, with satinwood string inlay to edges, the cover with tented top and brass pull, body with diamond-shaped escutcheon, interior with burgundy velvet to cover and two covered foil-lined compartments with further amboyna and satinwood veneers to lids, ht. 5 1/2, wd. 7 1/8, dp. 4 7/8 in. Provenance: Purchased from Michael F. Wisdom Antiques, London, in 1923. The original receipt accompanies the lot.
