Carlos Merida (Guatemalan, 1891-1984) El Agorero [The Soothsayer] Signed and dated "CARLOS MERIDA 1973" in pencil l. l., titled, signed, and dated "...CARLOS MERIDA 1973" on the reverse. Oil, graphite, and incised gesso (or similar) on Arches paper, sheet size 30 x 22 in. (76.2 x 55.9 cm), framed. Condition: Tape hinged to backing mat. Provenance: Acquired from the artist's studio in Mexico City c. late 1970s to early 1980s; by family descent to a private Michigan collection.
