Leon Kroll (American, 1884-1975) Jamaican Woman Signed "Leon Kroll" l. r., identified on a presentation plaque. Oil on canvas, 19 1/2 x 15 in. (49.5 x 38.0 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, surface grime. N.B. An accompanying letter from Mrs. David B. Lawall, dated December 14, 1979, describes the work at hand as number 612 in the Kroll inventory. Mrs. Lawall gives the inventory title as Girl with Flowers (Oranges) , although she goes on to state that this may not have been the original title. She also suggests that the work was done between 1917 and 1922, the dates of a similar Kroll work titled The Lemon Tree .
