John Wesley's Pop artistry illustrates the American psyche through comic-book style imagery that often depicts intimate moments. Wesley's unique approach to creation was shaped by his early draftsman work interpreting blueprints for the Northrop aircraft company. Filled with whimsy, Wesley's works combine existing imagery from magazines and books that he traces and transforms into flat representations of a reality imparted with his fantastical vision. Contemporaries Donald Judd and Dan Flavin were close friends of Wesley's and proponents of his work. Judd played an integral role in creating the John Wesley Gallery housed in a former horse stable near the last of the six Dan Flavin buildings at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas.
