"Khayamiya" Panel, Egypt, late 19th century, the large center roundel displaying light blue, red, gold, and midnight blue segments forming a large eight-pointed star enclosed by smaller five-pointed stars and with fleur-de-lis type pendants, the field comprised of many red elongated teardrop-shaped pieces forming a peacock-type feather at each corner, tile- patterned stylized rosettes form the main border, contiguous diamond and ellipse designed minor border, two cross panels above the field, one with an inscription, the other with an allover stylized floral motif, needle-turn applique cotton on linen, 11 ft. x 6 ft. 7 in.
