Pair of Louis XV Walnut Side Chairs, Lyon, c. 1750, each with an indistinct stamp to interior rear seat rail "NOGARETALYON" for Pierre Nogaret (1718-1777), each chaise with a cartouche-shaped, caned back rest and seat with central carved floral spray, raised on cabriole legs with pendant floral carving to each knee, ht. 37 in. N.B. Nogaret (maître, 1745) was one of the few renowned provincial menuisiers. He studied in Paris before moving to Lyon, where his studio became known for the quality of its chair design and production.
