Dominick & Haff Sterling Silver Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club Trophy Bowl, New York, 1896, with a reticulated rim decorated with leafy grapevines, raised on four similarly cast feet, engraved "Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club/Twenty fifth Annual Race/June 24th 1895/First Prize 60 foot class sloops/Wasp. /Capt Henry F. Lippitt", dia. 11 1/2 in., approx. 41.3 troy oz. N.B. The cutter Wasp was originally owned by Archibald Rodgers, and designed by Nathanael Herreshoff in 1891 to compete against her revolutionary predecessor Gloriana . The two cutters raced against each other numerous times the following 1892 season pitting captains and half-brothers Charlie and John Barr against each other. Wasp continued to be a competitor in her field in the years following.
