Painted Tin Box, Vermont, mid 19th century, with hinged top, the box painted green with decoration and "F, SAFFORD. BRANDON Vt." in gold, all outlined in red pinstriping, ht. 3 1/2, wd. 8 1/4, dp. 4 1/2 in. Provenance: Frank Safford was born 1830, in Canada, and was employed as an engineer at Brandon House, in Brandon, Vermont. He served in Company D, 21st Massachusetts Infantry in the Civil War. He died in 1917 in Brandon.
