Simon Willard Patent Timepiece or "Banjo Clock," Roxbury, Massachusetts, c. 1805, the mahogany case with painted iron Roman numeral dial within a brass bezel, reverse-painted glasses, the lower of geometric pattern in beige, white, and gold marked S. Willard's Patent , the waist glass decorated with leaves and ribbons and flanked by brass side ornaments, eight-day timepiece with "T-bridge," fillister-head screws for case attachment, step train and dead-beat escapement all regulated by a brass-faced pendulum bob and iron rod, ht. 33 1/2 in.
