First edition, quarto, with the folding map, torn with fairly substantial loss, lacking signature A; with two full-page engravings in the text; not collated, in contemporary limp parchment, 8 x 5 3/4 in. Although defective, this work is rare. Worldcat shows only the British Library copy of this edition. This is Gumilla's most famous work; a Jesuit priest, he was educated and spent most of his life in South America.
