Horatio Stone (American, 1808-1875) Moses, the Carrara marble figure carved with long curling beard, inscribed to reverse "Horatio Stone Fec. Rome 1867," and mounted to a white marble socle, total ht. 29 1/4 in. N.B. In an obituary for Stone by Mary E. Nealy, published in The Aldine , Vol. 8, No. 6, 1876, the author lists a "magnificent bust of Moses" as one of Stone's ideal works.
