Russian . 875 Silver and Hardstone-mounted Kovsh, Moscow, 1908-18, Orest Fedorovich Kurlyukov, maker, Russian Revival-style, the boat-form bowl with the figure of Boyan playing the gusli seated on the prow and decorated with flowers and scrolls, with crowned cipher and hardstone cabochons to handle, lg. 15 5/8 in., approx. 42.3 troy oz. N.B. Boyan is a bard who appears in the Russian epic poem The Lay of Igor's Campaign . He was a popular figure with Russian Romantic artists.
