Chippendale Carved Mahogany Block-front Slant-lid Desk, Benjamin Frothingham, Charlestown, Massachusetts, c. 1760-80, the lid opens to an interior of a fan-carved concave prospect door flanked by baluster-front document drawers with flame finials, valanced compartments, and blocked drawers, two with carved fans, on a cockbeaded case of four drawers, on conforming base of shaped bracket feet, replaced brasses, refinished, (restored), ht. 42 1/2, wd. 43 1/2, dp. 22 in. Note: Retains partial maker's label on inside bottom of interior drawer.
