Soumak Carpet, Northeast Caucasus, late 19th century, the light red field with an allover design of polychrome shield type palmettes with stylized rosettes of varying sizes, endless knot motifs, and animals, all within a wide chocolate brown zig zag patterned main border, small-scale "crab" variant and "running dog" minor borders, 8 ft. 7 in. x 5 ft. 10 in.
