Pair of Celadon Cups with Covers, China, Song dynasty, Yaozhou ware-style, cylindrical form with slightly flared rim and rounded bottom, unglazed rim and foot ring, decorated with two floral motifs incised upon the body, with undulating wheel marks, the base slightly convex and glazed, the cover molded into a multi-tiered cone-shape and decorated with incised foliate scrolls, unglazed around the underside rim, the transparent olive green glaze uneven to some areas and varied in tones with the shapes and designs, allover crackling, ht. 3 7/8, cup dia. 2 7/8 in. Provenance: Sold to benefit the acquisition fund of the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire.
