Pair of Flambe Vases, China, Qing dynasty, garlic-head form with long neck and six-lobed bulbous jar-shape mouth with lipped rim, resting on short straight foot, the copper red glaze with purple to blue streaks and spots around the mouth, flambe-glazed interior, the foot ring and base unglazed, with wheel marks, ht. 8 1/8 in. Provenance: Sold to benefit the acquisition fund of the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire.
