Large Mottled Flambe Vase, China, late Qing dynasty, baluster form with a trumpet-shaped mouth, resting on a raised foot, the mottled deep wine glaze stopped near base, the flared mouth rim glazed in purple with bluish streaks running through white-glazed interior, the foot ring in oxidized red with cracks, a brushed mark to the base with wheel marks, ht. 14 3/8, dia. 8 1/4 in. Provenance: Sold to benefit the acquisition fund of the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire.
