Lacquered Table Cabinet, China, 19th century, the top and two doors with mother-of-pearl inlay depicting a garden celebration, sides and back with inlaid floral motifs and musical instruments, the back with a plum tree and crescent moon, door interiors inscribed with a poem ("Spring first enters into the front garden. Flowers in the middle are now blooming. Only those along the shadowed paths wait for the sun to open them.," trans. Y. Zheng), inlays decorate the six interior drawers and a removable panel which is inscribed "a gift from Baikai (?)," 12 1/2 x 14 3/4 x 9 1/4 in. Provenance: From the estate of Peter L. Rosenberg.
