György Kepes (Hungarian/American, 1906-2001) leafs, port... , 1983. Signed and dated "Gyorgy Kepes..." below the image l.r. Polacolor print, sheet size 32 1/4 x 22 in. (82.0 x 55.9 cm), unmatted, unframed. Condition: Unmounted, cracks in emulsion at l.l. corner of sheet, minor creases and pinpricks in upper corners. N.B. In 1984 the Polaroid Foundation invited György Kepes, who experimented with photography throughout his career, to use the 20x24 Polaroid camera. The resulting carefully staged compositions summarize many of his artistic concerns, employing such objects as prisms, flowers, and graphic papers to manipulate the effects of light and form.
