Pair of Lamaist Pillar Rugs, Ningxia, China, early 19th century, the confronted dragons with a variegated-pattern body in shades of blue admiring flaming pearls, flanked by wheels, chessboards, and coins on a pale gold field surrounded by clouds, above a "land meets sea" pattern and below a canopy of strung pearls, both 7 ft. 2 in. x 1 ft. 8 in.
