Two Yellow-glazed Pottery Tiles, China, possibly 15th/16th century, a roof end tile with a carving of a shishi lion seated on its hind legs on top and a swirling dragon with a flaming pearl incised on face; and a convex tile with a carving of a phoenix perched on top, the lion with brushed marks to underside, ht. to 11 1/4, lg. to 12 1/4 in. Provenance: Sold to benefit the acquisition fund of the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire.
