Transitional Chippendale Mahogany Side Chair, Massachusetts, c. 1760, the cresting with molded ears centering a pierced splat joining a slip seat and cabriole legs with vase-, ring-, and block-turned stretcher on platformed pad feet, (imperfections), ht. 37 1/2, seat ht. 17, wd. 23, dp. 19 1/2 in. Provenance: According to a plaque attached to the chair, it originally belonged to Thomas Chamberlin and Rebecca Page. It descended through at least three generations of the Chamberlin family before being sold out of Hingham, Massachusetts to dealer George Considine of Dartmouth, Massachusetts. The consignor acquired the chair in 1968.
