Two Upholstered Shell-carved Open Armchairs, French Canada, late 18th/early 19th century, each with serpentine crest rail centering a shell above upholstered back, curving molded arms and concave supports, serpentine shaped and carved seat rails centering shells, overupholstered seats and carved front legs with scroll-carved feet joined to the shaped rear legs by double chapeau de gendarme -type cross-stretchers, (imperfections and repairs), ht. to 36 1/4, seat ht. to 18 in.
