English School, c. 1836-37 Two Miniature Portraits of a Man and Woman. The man signed "J.Henry" l.r. and dated "1836" l.l., the woman signed and dated "J. Henry 1837" l.l. Watercolor, gouache, and pencil on paper, the man seated, wearing a green vest, checkered pants, and holding rolled sheet music; the woman seated, wearing a lacy bonnet and blue ribbon, and holding a book in her right hand and a kerchief in her left, each sight size 6 x 5 in., in matching, deeply canted, bird's-eye maple veneer frames. Condition: Very minor toning, not examined out of frames.
