Lakota Beaded and Quilled Hide Pipe Bag, c. 1870s attributed to "Rain in the Face" of The Hunkpapa band, beaded on both sides with multicolored geometric designs, with quilled rawhide slats, and fringe at the bottom, the traces of yellow pigment, includes custom wall mount, (quill loss), lg. 37 in. Provenance: Old tag from E.F. Eble, Art Collection, 284 Fourth Ave, New York, New York; written on the back: "Sioux, pouch and pipe, the property formerly of Rain in the Face- the foe of Custer." "Rain in the Face" was known to have visited New York in early 1890s. E.F. Eble died in 1894.
