Domaine Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux 1985 Loire u: four 1. 0cm or better, two 2.0cm, one lightly scuffed label, two wrinkled labels "From a cool yet interesting year (drought stress in spring), Huet's 1985 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux has a deep golden color corresponding with the deep and ultra-ripe fruit and biscuit flavors on the imperfect nose that detects some botrytis and mushroom aromas, and seems to not be very brilliant. Elegant and much purer than expected from the nose, this fairly finesse-full Chenin balances its sweetness with extract, mineral flavors and a firm acidity. The finish is slightly rustic and tannic from this bottle (the cork was wet and black on the upper end). 'The spring of 1985 was unusually dry and there is a common theme throughout the appellation in that the blocked maturity meant that the wines have remained muted and have never really opened up,' writes Richard Kelley on his website. 'It was the first vintage since 1973 that any moëlleux was produced at Huet.'" S. Reinhardt for TWA, 89? pts. 11/15 6 bottles
