Gilt-brass and Glass "Geo W. Frantz" Fire Pumper Lantern, Devoursney Brothers, 389 Broome Street, New York, late 19th century, with eagle finial atop a ribbed dome, above a compact baluster section and four-sided lantern with shield-form etched beveled glass panels, two blue-cut-to-clear panels reading "Geo. W. Frantz," one colorless panel with emblems of firefighting, and one red-cut-to-clear panel with the fire pumper from which this lantern was reportedly removed, small maker's tag affixed to the top of the lantern section, (minor imperfections), ht. 20 3/4 in. Provenance: Descended in the family of the consignor from George W. Frantz, the consignor's great or great-great grandfather, who was the chief of the Buffalo fire department.
