Pair of Famille Rose Bowls, China, 19th century, high rounded sides with an everted rim, the exterior and interior decorated with roundels illustrating the traditional story of The Weaver Girl and the Cowherd , two depicting scenes of figures in gardens viewing the two constellations that they represent, Vega and Altair, and two depicting the weaver girl and the cowherd riding an ox amidst magpies and lingzhi -form clouds, the interior depicting their meeting in the heavens on a bridge formed by magpies, with a six-character Daoguang mark on base, with two carved foliate five-legged wood stands, overall ht. 4 5/8 in, dia. 6 in.
