Loose Painting Depicting an Eagle, China, John Way (1921-2012) [Wei Letang], perched on a pine, inscribed in the upper right corner, signed and dated in the upper left with a seal, all in cursive script, ink and light color on paper, 22 5/8 x 15 5/8 in. Provenance: The family of the artist. Way was a student of Li Zhonqian, and C.C. Wang described Way's brushwork as "powerful, direct, free and spontaneous, like the dynamic movements of a dragon" in 2000.
