Eight Pewter Items, China, 20th century, a rectangular box with a cover topped with two moving candle holders and a pole, a mark both on the underside of cover and the interior base, ht. 8 1/4; a lobed leaf-shape stemmed holder with a short handle with jade detail, decorated with incised lotus design, brass-clad rim, mark on base, dia. 5 3/4; a globular ewer-shaped oil container with a candleholder spout and U-shape handle, ht. to handle 4 1/8; and a pair of stem dishes decorated with floral designs with shou and fu characters, brass clad rims, marks on bases, dia. 4; and a pair of two peach-shaped covered cases, both decorated with floral motifs and shou characters, brass-clad edges, marks on bases, dia. to 2; and a round platter decorated with auspicious symbols in brass and copper, brass-clad rim, brass holder to the back, dia. 12 1/2 in. Provenance: The pewter collection of Ruth Raymond, Beacon Hill, who began collecting in the 1940s.
