Pair of Bronze Altar Vases, China, Ming dynasty style, each flattened hu -shape with oval dish-shaped mouth, resting on an oval splayed foot, waisted neck with a pair of dragon-head loop handles with a loose ring, broad bands of meander pattern encircling the tapering shoulder and of abstract design around the foot separately cast and soldered, a raised plain band around mouth and foot rims, trace of an illegible mark to the base of one, ht. 10 1/2 in. Provenance: The collection of Andre Carlhian (1883-1968).
