Two Carved Mother-of-pearl Shells, China, 19th/20th century, both depicting in bas relief a riverside town with figures in various actions, one along with various auspicious fruit and plants, including grapes, pomegranate, and lotus; and the other with lingzhi mushrooms on front and on the reverse with incised gourd vines and foliate scrolls with a butterfly, ht. to 8 7/8, wd. to 9 7/8 in.
