Partial Gorham Baronial Sterling Silver Flatware Service, Providence, c. 1905, each engraved "Aztec," thirty hollow seafood forks, sixteen tablespoons, fourteen each cream soupspoons and place spoons, twelve ice cream forks, luncheon forks, dinner forks, and oyster forks; nine spreaders, six hollow fruit knives; four hollow fish knives; three teaspoons and hollow steak knives; two hollow steak forks; and a condiment spoon, approx. 164.9 troy oz. weighable silver. Provenance: The Aztec was built in 1902 as a private steam yacht for A.C. Burnage. Burnage leased the ship to the US Navy for use during WWI. After the war, the Aztec was restored to a civilian yacht before being purchased for the Royal Canadian Navy in 1931. There she was assigned to anti-submarine patrols and convoy escorts during WWII.
