French . 800 Silver and Parcel-gilt Chess Set, late 19th/early 20th century, bearing maker's mark "G Fres" possibly for Guillemin Frères, one side depicting parcel-gilt Christian players, the other parcel-gilt and bronzed Moorish players, ht. to 3 5/8; the chess board with lapis lazuli and marble playing surface framed by gilt-bronze mounts, with two frieze drawers enclosing a fitted interior, 20 3/8 x 20 3/8 in.
